The paralegals at LZK hold four-year college degrees along with their paralegal certification and practical experience that equips them with the skills necessary to deliver the highest standard of legal support to our clients.

Kari Eschenbaum

Kari has been a dedicated paralegal at LZK since 2013. Known for her empathy and calm presence, she specializes in guiding clients through their most stressful moments — whether that means a phone call, an in-person meeting, or simply answering the question that’s been keeping someone up at night. Her four-year degree in Psychology and degree in Paralegal Studies give her a rare ability to build trust quickly, ensuring every client feels heard and respected.

Prior to joining LZK, Kari spent 7.5 years with the Minnehaha County Public Defender’s Office and six years in the acute psychiatric unit at Avera McKennan Behavioral Health. That experience shapes everything she does — she understands the human side of legal challenges and brings genuine compassion to clients navigating divorce, custody disputes, or criminal charges.

When she’s not in the office, Kari is all in — cheering from the stands, front row at a concert, or somewhere new with her husband and daughter in tow. She lives for the moments that remind you why you work hard.

Emily

Mayberry

Paralegal

Emily Mayberry doesn’t just know the legal system — she’s lived inside it. Before joining LZK Law in Fall 2022, she built her foundation where it counts: the Sioux Falls Police Department, the Minnehaha County Clerk of Courts Office, and the Minnehaha County Public Defender’s Office. She’s seen the system from every angle, and that perspective is everything.

Equipped with a criminal justice degree from the University of South Dakota and a Paralegal Certification from Purdue, Emily brings a rare, multidimensional lens to family and criminal law. She doesn’t just navigate the process — she demystifies it, empowering clients with the knowledge and confidence to move forward.

Emily is the kind of advocate who meets people where they are. Sharp, warm, and unshakably dedicated, she turns what can feel like an overwhelming journey into one that clients don’t have to face alone.

When she’s not in the office, Emily is on the yoga mat, hunting down her next favorite song, or spoiling her black lab, Grizzly — who is, by all accounts, living his best life.

Georgilee Flynn

Georgilee has seen the legal world from every angle — clerk’s offices in Brown and Minnehaha Counties, case management at Minnehaha County Human Services, criminal defense work — and she brings all of it to her role as paralegal at Lockwood & Zahrbock Kool Law Office.

A Mount Marty College graduate with a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice, she knows the system inside and out. But what keeps her here? The clients. Georgilee shows up for people in their hardest moments, and that’s not lost on her.

Off the clock, she’s hunting for thrift store treasures, plotting her next creative project, and winding down with true crime. Basically, she’s equally at home solving problems and finding them.

Lily Hiatt

Office Manager

Sioux Falls native. North Park University alum. Bookworm turned office powerhouse.

Lily brought her English Creative Writing degree and two years of community-building at Siouxland Libraries to Lockwood & Zahrbock Kool Law Office — and hasn’t looked back. Since joining LZK, she’s been the engine that keeps the firm running.

When she’s not holding things together here, you’ll find her deep in a good book, cooking something ambitious, or getting crafty — usually with her dog nearby.

Camie Merry

Bookkeeper

As the bookkeeper for Lockwood & Zahrbock Kool Law Office, Camie has been the financial backbone of the firm since 2003. In January 2026, she launched her own bookkeeping business and now works from home, continuing to apply her decades of experience and expertise to keep the office running smoothly.
